私達はロッジが企画するMonteverde早朝探鳥ツアーに申し込み1月28日早朝5:50に出発しました。北米の強い低気圧の影響で時々強い風が吹き小雨模様です。昨日と同じ場所に行くのかと思ったら、ガイドは逆に山を少し下った所に連れて行きました。山頂近くより風は弱くなっていました。

We applied the Monteverde early-morning bird-watching tour planned by the Lodge, and started at 5:50 early in the morning of January 28. Strong wind sometimes blew under the influence of a North American strong low pressure and it drizzled. The guide took us to a place a little down of the mountain. The wind became weaker than mountaintop neighborhood.

森を出たところに休憩所があり餌台が設置されていました。近くの小枝に頭の赤い小さいキツツキが飛んできました。この鳥は主にコスタ･リカに住むコスタリカキビタイシマセゲラのようです。

There was a rest station in the place where we left the forest and a bird table was installed. A small woodpecker with red head flew to a twig nearby. This bird is like Hoffmann's woodpecker.
Wikipiedia: Hoffmann's woodpecker, Melanerpes hoffmannii, is a resident breeding bird from southern Honduras south to Costa Rica. It is a common species on the Pacific slopes, locally as high as 2,150 m (7,050 ft).
