マゼランガン (Chloephaga picta)

2014年1月8日、 二メス湖(Laguna Nimez)には大きくって目立つ水鳥が沢山いる。日本では見かけない種だ。看板に書いてあったマゼランガンだ。大きいのでこの地を航海したマゼランたちの食料になったのかな？オスとメスでは色彩が異なる。このような大形の水鳥が住むということは、この湿地帯にはそれだけ豊かな食料があることを意味する。

There are lots of big and prominent waterfowl in Lake Nimesu. The species are not seen in Japan. It is the Magellan Goose that was indicated on the billboard. I wonder if it was a food of Magellan who sailed here? The color of the bird is different between male and female. Living such a big waterfowl means that there is much food rich in the wetland.
