• 2015年8月6 ? 8日、アスンシオンから車で約5時間の場所にあるチャコ地方のLoma Plataに旅行した。主にメノナイト移住地を訪れた。1つの塩水湖も見た。まだ乾季には入っていないので水は豊富で野鳥の姿もまばらだった。チャコ地方を代表する大形の鳥であるズグロハゲコウが1羽湖を歩いていた。野生のこの鳥を見るのは初めてだ。
• On August 6 ? 8, 2015, six of us traveled around Loma Plata of the Chaco district in Paraguay which located about five hours from Asuncion by car. We mainly visited Mennonite Colonies. We also visited one of the saline lakes. We saw a few birds around the lake because it was not yet the dry season and there was lot of water in the lake. I saw a Jabiru waking in the lake which is one of the typical wild birds in Chaco district. It was the first time to see this bird in nature for me.

塩水湖から帰る途中、そう遠くない小さな沼にズグロハゲコウが1羽いたので車を止めてもらって写真を撮った。
On the way back from the saline lake, I saw a Jabiru in a small marsh at certain close distance. I asked the driver of the car to stop and took the photos.

距離が近いため黒い頭部の特徴も分かる写真を撮れた。
I was able to take photos to see the characteristic of the black head because the distance was not far.

この鳥はアンデスコンドルに次ぐ長い翼を持つ。この鳥は地上では不恰好な印象を与えるが、飛翔する姿は力強く優雅だ。
