- 2015年11月14日、ニュワス公園と北西に接するもう一つの大きい公園であるGuazu Metropolitano Parkの両方を散歩した。 プリンシパル湖に行くと、突然大きな鳥が頭上近くを飛んでいった。パラグアイ・チャコを代表する野鳥エンビコウだった。 この公園には貴重な自然環境が残っている証拠だ。
- On November 21, 2015, I strolled in Nu Guazu Park and adjacent Guazu Metropolitano Park which was another big park contracted northwest of Nu Guazu Park. When I went to Principal Lake, a big bird flew away above my head in close distance. It was Maguari stork, typical wild bird in Chaco, Paraguay. This is the evidence that precious natural environments are left in this park.
頭上近くを飛ぶ大きい鳥、迫力満点だ。以前見たことはあるが、こんなに近くで見たのは初めてだった。

the Maguari stork in such a close distance though I saw it once in a far distance before.

別の野鳥を観察してからまたプリンシパル湖に戻ると、対岸の草原にエンビコウがいた。
The Maguari stork was on the grassy plain of the opposite bank when I came back to the Lake again after observing a different wild bird.

草原を見回しているがあまり活発には動かなかった。初めての訪問で戸惑っているのかも知れない。
The bird was looking around, but did not move the grassy plain so lively. The bird might be puzzled by the first visit here.

しばらく見ていたら、エンビコウはさらに奥の方に歩いていって背の高い草木に隠れて姿が見えなくなった。
While I looked at the bird for a while, it walked far away and disappeared behind tall grasses and trees.

- 2015年8月6 ? 8日、アスンシオンから車で約5時間の場所にあるチャコ地方のLoma Plataに旅行した。主にメノナイト移住地を訪れた。 8月8日、Loma Plataからアスンシオンに車で国道9号線を通って帰った。この道路は首都圏とチャコ地方を結ぶ唯一の道路だ。 道路の左右にはチャコ地方に特徴的な原野が広がる。地面は背の高い草で覆われ所々に木が立っている。気温は高いが年間雨量が少ないので森林は見られない。 途中、草原に大形の鳥の群がいるのが見えた。道路からかなり遠い場所だったが、車を止めてもらって写真を撮った。 最初、鳥は餌を捕っていて頭部は高い草に隠れていたが、しばらくすると頭部を上げる鳥もいた。 拡大写真を見ると、目の周りが赤っぽく、全身の羽毛を白いが翼の先は黒い。この鳥はチャコを代表する大形のエンビコウのようだ。
- On August 6 ? 8, 2015, six of us traveled around Loma Plata of the Chaco district in Paraguay which located about five hours from Asuncion by car. We mainly visited Mennonite Colonies. On August 8, we came back from Loma Plata to Asuncion by car through Route 9 which was the only road between Asuncion and Chaco district. The wilderness that is characteristic of the Chaco district spreads out in right and left of the road. The ground is covered with tall grass, and a tree stands here and there. The temperature is high, but the forest is not seen because there is little annual precipitation. I saw that there was a flock of large birds on the way on the grassy plain. It was considerably far from the road, but I asked to stop the car and took photos. First, the birds were taking baits and their heads were hidden behind the tall grass. After a few minutes, some of them raised their heads. When I look at the enlarged photo, the circumference of eyes is reddish, and the feather of the body is white, but the flight feather is black. This bird is one of the typical wild birds, Maguari stork, in Chaco district.
最初の写真はチャコ地方の典型的な風景だ。地面は背の高い草で覆われ所々に木が立っている。
気温は高いが年間雨量が少ないので森林は見られない。
途中、草原に大形の鳥の群がいるのが見えた。道路からかなり遠い場所だったが、車を止めてもらって写真を撮った。
