• Wikipedia: The Saffron Finch (Sicalis flaveola) is a tanager from South America that is common in open and semi-open areas in lowlands outside the Amazon Basin. They have a wide distribution in Colombia, northern Venezuela (where it is called "canario de tejado" or "roof canary"), western Ecuador, western Peru, eastern and southern Brazil (where it is called "canario da terra" or "earth canary"), Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, northern Argentina, and Trinidad and Tobago. It has also been introduced to Hawaii, Puerto Rico and elsewhere. Formerly, it was placed in the Emberizidae but it is close to the seedeaters.
• キンノジコ (Sicalis flaveola)は南米原産のフウキンチョウ 《中米･南米産の羽毛の美しい小鳴鳥》であり、 アマゾン盆地外の低地で開放的か半開放的な地域で普通です。 この鳥はコロンビア、ベネズエラ北部（ここでは屋根カナリアと呼ばれています）、エクアドル西部、ペルー西部、 ブラジル東部と南部（ここでは地上カナリアと呼ばれています）、ボリビア、パラグアイ、ウルグアイ、 アルゼンチン北部、トリニダーとトバゴに広く分布します。また、ハワイ、プエルトリコや他の場所にも導入されました。 以前この鳥はホオジロ科に分類されましたがseedeater（主に種子を食べる鳥の種類）に近い種類です。

南米原産のフウキンチョウであり、姿も歌声も美しいのでハワイなど他国に移入されました。 オスは明るい黄色であり額の部分はオレンジっぽい色をしています。メスは茶色っぽい縞模様の羽毛を持ちオスより地味です。
The saffron finch is a tanager native of South America, and has been introduced to other countries because its figure and singing voice are attractive. The male is bright yellow with an orange crown. The female is quieter than the male having the feather of the brown-like striped pattern.

キンノジコは南米原産の美しい黄色の羽毛を持つ小鳥でありパラグアイではパラグアイ・カナリアと呼ばれ、草原などで良く見かけます。

この小鳥はコロンビアでは屋根カナリア、ブラジルでは地上カナリアと呼ばれているそうです。 カナリアはカナリア諸島原産アトリ科の小鳥、この小鳥は南米原産のフウキンチョウ科の小鳥です。 違った科の小鳥ですが姿や生態もとても似ています。

They have a wide distribution in Colombia, northern Venezuela (where it is called "roof canary"), western Ecuador, western Peru, eastern and southern Brazil (where it is called "native canary"). Canary is a bird of Canary Islands origin and belongs to Fringillidae, while this bird is of South America origin and belongs to Thraupidae. They are very similar in appearance and ecology even though they are in different families.

ニュワス公園でキンノジコのオスとメスのペアを見かけました。翼の模様は似ていますが、 オスの羽毛は美しい黄色なのに対しメスの羽毛は白っぽく地味で随分違います。
I saw a pair of male and female of Saffron finch in Nu guazu park. The male is bright yellow with an orange crown, but female is whitish and sober. Though their pattern of wings is similar they look very different.

キンノジコのメスが木の枝に止まっています。木洩れ日の光と影に隠れたカモフラージュになっています。 動かなければ見つかりません。フウキンチョウは南米原産の羽毛の美しい小鳥ですが、メスは共通して地味な色をしています。 これも自然淘汰の結果なのでしょう。
Female Saffron finch is perching on a tree branch. It has become a camouflage that was hidden in the light and shadow among the tree branch. It can not be found unless it moves. Tanager is birds with beautiful feathers of South America origin, but female has a sober color in common. This may be also the result of natural selection.
